Through a set of focus groups and one-on-one interviews, our client conducted research abroad in three different languages and dialects: German, Cantonese and Mandarin. After the interview session, our client had a set of foreign language audio recordings and needed to have them transcribed in English.

While performing research on hi-tech products, the client’s primary concerns were time and confidentiality. Logistics for organizing offshore research is time consuming and conducting research in a foreign language is an additional challenge. All audio recordings need to be transcribed and translated in order to be used for data analysis. Moreover, each linguist received only partial recordings so that they were not exposed to the entire data collected by our client.
