"World on Trial" now bilingual

Penn State is taking the World on Trial and Globalme is making the bilingual production possible! World on Trial is an educational public television and multimedia series produced by Penn State Public Broadcasting, Penn State Law and the Penn State School of International Affairs. The series will elevate public awareness of important human rights issues and the international treaties that govern them.

The series is recorded in the courtroom at Penn State Law. The pilot episode examined the legality of France's 2004 "headscarf law," which forbids the wearing of conspicuous religious garb in primary and secondary public schools.

"The destiny of human rights is in the hands of all our citizens in all our communities."
—Eleanor Roosevelt

Globalme worked with Penn State Public Broadcasting on a variety of localization services. Our foreign language transcription team transcribed the pilot episode which included both French and English audio. The 30 minute audio from the trial produced six pages of French text. We then performed an audio recording to air as a Web trailer. We translated a twenty second segment from the trial, and two of our French voice talents performed the recording in English. Most recently, Globalme translated the program logo, which features World on Trial in 17 languages including Swahili and Arabic.

We are looking forward to our further collaboration with Penn State on World on Trial. Check the official World on Trial website for more information about the series.
