Andrzej Globalme Localization Engineer
My name is Andrzej (pronounced ‘Ahnd-jay’ in Polish, but ‘Andrew’ to those who have difficulty with that tricky ‘d’ ‘j’ combo), and I’m a Localization Engineer at Globalme. I’m responsible for project management and localization engineering for video, advertisements, web/mobile apps, and so on. I grew up in the city of Kraków, Poland, which legend states, used to be terrorized by a dragon which is now one the city’s symbols. The second largest city in Poland (and certainly one of the oldest), it’s famous for its medieval architecture, soaring churches, and impressive museums. While living there, I completed a five-year Master’s program at Jagiellonian University (the oldest university in all of Poland) where I majored in Russian Philology and minored in Translatology. I also completed a Master’s program at Cracow University of Economy where I majored in International Relations and minored in Foreign Trade. After all that studying, I can safely say I am glad to parted ways with my textbooks! Plus, the travel bug hit me hard by that point – I was itching for change and to explore a new culture.
Upon graduating, I worked in Poland on several positions that combined both IT and my love for languages. In 2015, I started working for Globalme remotely. But, after having spent almost my whole life in the same city, it was time to pack my bags and say “do widzenia!” to Poland. I made the move to Vancouver to join the Globalme team in person and haven’t looked back since. I’d never been to North America which only made the move more exciting – hellooo fresh air! I am thoroughly enjoying the better climate, and getting to work with such a multicultural team.
Here are 2 truths and 1 lie about me – take a guess at what is what, and tweet it at us at @Globalmedotnet!
