Felix Globalme Project Assistant
My name is Felix, and I’m a Project Assistant at Globalme. I’m originally from Cologne (no, not eau de cologne, but Cologne the city), in Germany. I spent my first 16 years there enjoying, similar to Vancouver, the diverse and international culture. Cologne is one of those energetic and upbeat cities where there’s always something happening. One of the things I especially looked forward to is the Cologne “Karneval” – in other words, German Mardi Gras (on steroids). The whole city would take a week off of work to masquerade in colorful clown ensembles, drink their faces off, steal a kiss from random strangers, and crowd streets to celebrate the “crazy days”. Vancouver should prooobably start a tradition like this, wouldn’t you agree?
My family and I had frequented the mountains of Whistler throughout my childhood, and fostered in me a love for roaming those chilly, snow-topped mountains. At the age of 16, I left Germany and my family behind, and finished off high school on Vancouver Island. For a few years, I became a ski bum in Whistler while I got a Business Management degree at BCIT (multitasking at its finest!).
After spying a few job postings online, Globalme was on my radar. I decided to test the waters (but really wanted to get my foot in the door) by first becoming a product-tester. Soon, I won them over with my charming personality and lycra cycling gear (*wink wink*), and I joined the team full-time.
This is my first official nine-to-five job, and though there was a bit of a schedule adjustment at first (goodbye 12PM yoga routine…), I’m absolutely loving it. The team is incredibly diverse but everyone meshes together well – and there is always a possibility to dip my fingers in different projects. I get to learn on the job, engage with people every day, and I have easy access to crazy beautiful mountains, beaches, hiking trails, and outdoor sports galore!
