Okay, okay, so we’re a bit late to the party – but we thought we’d share some photos of our amazing potluck last week anyways! Better late than never, right? Plus, now you get to spend a few minutes ogling at all the delicious, multicultural food our team put together to celebrate our Globalme Thanksgiving 2016. The first official, annual Thanksgiving in Canada was celebrated in 1879, though Indigenous peoples in Canada have had a history of celebrating the fall harvest that predates the arrival of European settlers. Since then, it has become an annual holiday occurring on the second Monday of October – this year, it fell on October 10th.
Before going any further, the Globalme team wishes to acknowledge the ancestral, traditional, and unceded Indigenous territories of the Coast Salish Peoples, in particular, of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations in Metro Vancouver on whose territory we work, live, and stand.
We came together as a group of diverse people (from Hong Kong, Holland, Italy, Syria, Korea, Poland, Turkey, and more) to honor the friendships between so many different cultures. There was sushi, gimbap, curry, beef rendang, perogies, blueberry pie, filled pancakes, polenta e ragù… and a few veggie platters for those who didn’t have time to whip anything up in the kitchen 😉 We even decided to trade in our ‘normal’ work wear (aka t-shirts and hoodies) for a slightly fancier dress code.

The food was so delicious, we stuffed ourselves ’till we just about popped!
