SpeechTEK Conference Wrap-up: An Interesting Future Ahead!
Team Globalme flew out to Washington D.C. to attend SpeechTEK 2017; a conference dedicated to exploring the realms of speech recognition, machine learning and smart devices. We were overwhelmed with the wealth of knowledge the conference offered. There were keynote speeches, panels, and talks-a-plenty. Track topics such as Bots, Conversational Interfaces, Digital Transformation, Talking With Things, and Virtual Assistants stole the show. In addition, promising a future filled with ever-more connected homes and workplaces. Not to mention, a world that is fast approaching a sci-fi-movie-esque future.
The conference opened with Keynote speaker Gerry McGovern, Founder and CEO of Customer Carewords and Author of Transform: A Rebel’s Guide for Digital Transformation. He outlined the collapse of brick-and-mortar retail in lieu of the convenience that technology provides. “The organizations who are genuinely obsessed with their customers are the ones that will succeed”, he remarked. In addition, McGovern said, “Years ago we would look up to authority figures; doctors, teachers… Now, we look across at our peers; friends with authentic advice”. Though his Keynote speech wasn’t necessarily speech recognition related, it certainly inspired the audience and spoke to the inner entrepreneur in us all!
Exhibiting at SpeechTEK
The exhibition hall also started with a bang. Needless to say, Team Globalme had an absolute blast meeting and speaking with the innovators, thought-leaders, entrepreneurs and technologists who roamed the halls. We wish we would have taken more footage! That’s what you get when you’re too busy networking.
