Mosaics Immigrant Professionals Conference 2016

Mosaics Immigrant Professionals Conference 2016: On November 5th, MOSAIC is hosting the 3rd annual Immigrant Professionals Conference in Surrey, BC, and we are pleased to announce that our CEO, Emre Akkas, and Chief of Operations, Hanna Golota are presenting. Emre will be featured on the Successful Immigrant Panel from 3:15PM – 4:15PM, and Hanna will be a panelist on the Empowering Immigrant Women talk in Breakout Session A from 11:30AM – 12:30PM.

One of the biggest disappointments for immigrants moving to Canada is the realization that their professional credentials, their education, training, skills and experience are not often recognized by employers.

This free-to-attend conference aims to offer professional immigrants and newcomers with the opportunity to learn about Canada’s labour market and their options moving forward, as well as soft skills, networking, job-seeking strategies and tips. There will also be a variety of exhibitors present such as RBC and Douglas College.

Attendees will have access to a variety of different workshops such as First Steps to Becoming an Entrepreneur in BC and How to Best Use Technology to Sell Your Skills, and expert career panels. Furthermore, they be able to hear from and network with other successful immigrants such as the keynote speaker, Ms. Karimah Es Sabar, and Globalme Co-Founders Emre Akkas and Hanna Golota. Check out the conference program for more detailed information and to pick out where you want to be (and when) throughout the day.

Globalme has had the privilege of working with MOSAIC in the past with our Globalme Involved initiative, aimed at helping Syrian refugees better integrate into Vancouver by providing them with a three-month internship opportunity at our company. Thus, exposing newcomers to Canadian culture and working style, increasing their network, and hopefully giving them a running start to their careers here.
