We are thrilled to announce that Hanna has been named a winner of Business in Vancouver’s 2019 Forty Under 40 Award.
The awards are designed to highlight British Columbia’s biggest and brightest entrepreneurs and executives.
You can read the full feature on Hanna in the December edition of Business in Vancouver here. A big congrats also goes out to the other 39 winners, whom you can read about here.
The winners will be honoured at an event in January.
Why was Hanna selected?
Hanna founded Globalme in 2009 with her husband, Emre Akkas. Since then, Globalme has grown from a team of 2 to over 70 employees.
In Hanna’s role of COO, she’s involved in day-to-day culture building, provides mentorship to the Localization department, and never hesitates to step in on major projects.
And even more importantly, Hanna believes in giving back, leading internal professional development and environmental initiatives at Globalme, advocating for women in tech, and sponsoring charitable initiatives that are near and dear to her heart, like supporting local women and recent Canadian immigrants.
On top of it all, Hanna and Emre became first-time parents to their daughter Eyla in 2018.
Fun Hanna Facts You Won’t Hear About in BIV
Cześć! Hallo! Merhaba! Hi!
In addition to her native language of Polish, Hanna also speaks intermediate German and Turkish (and of course, English).
Rise and Shine
Hanna is an early bird. She’s always one of the first people at the office.
When Hanna is focused on work, she literally won’t hear or see anything happening around her.
Hanna’s big dream at work is to have Globalme published in the Harvard Business Review as a culture case study.
(Kite) Surf’s Up
Hanna loves kite surfing—a big reason why Maui (in Hawaii) and Palamutbükü (in Turkey) are her favourite travel destinations.
