What was exciting about this past month was to see the Globalme teams grow in so many different ways. For the third year in a row, we are one of BC’s fastest growing companies, ranking in the top 20 thanks to our awesome team and partners. While we are incredibly proud of this fact, we also understand that growth is not only about numbers.

When we all get together for our team lunches, potlucks or an after work beer, it becomes very clear that as new people join the team, our diversity grows along with us. This does not only make for funny stories and “wow I did not know that” moments, but our team’s cultural diversity is also a great advantage in the work we do. According to McKinsey, “ethnically diverse companies are 35% more likely to outperform their peers.” With over twenty different nationalities across our teams, we should be well positioned to keep up the good work.

Diversity, new structures and changing responsibilities come with personal challenges for each of us. This month, we had the chance to address these in a personal development workshop. We learned about different personality types, ourselves, and teams working together. Equipped with this knowledge we hope to be even stronger as a team and further develop our culture of inclusion, collaboration, and innovation.

It hasn’t been long since we moved into our new office in Yaletown and we couldn’t wait to showcase it. Vancouver Startup Week 2017 was the perfect opportunity for our first open house and making connections in our new neighborhood.

It was a fun night where we had the opportunity to get to know people and chat about who we are, what we do, and of course, enjoy some snacks together. The best part was that it was a time to connect with our coworkers who work from our clients’ location and develop next generation wearable devices. I would love to share more with you about these wearables but will need to wait until the next public product release, unless, you become a team member before.
